Lake Louise is located just a short distance from the city of Banff. Near the lake are numerous hotels (some very "up-scale") and in general it is a very popular spot for tourists. This is one of the most accessible scenic areas I've been to where people of all abilities can enjoy the scenery and exert themselves to their own level. Avid backpackers may cringe at the thought of visiting an area where so many people are, but even if you only visit for an hour or two it is worth the time (if the mountains and lake are not obscured by clouds).
