Title Getting There About the picture Mount Assiniboine Getting There Comming Soon About the picture
In the Canadian Rockies, nearby Calgary, there are a number of Canadian and Provincial parks. A great many visitors file through Banff, stop over in Yoho and tour through Jasper. But far fewer make it to Mount Assiniboine. In large part this is because there are no roads to there, that's right you can not drive there. You must either backpack, take a horse or, if you have the money, take the helicopter that goes the lake Magog Lodge once a week. The area here offers much and in spite of being a popular backpacking area the human impact is low and the peace and quite are truly wonderful. The only disruptions are the occasional cracks and thunderous fall of pieces of the glacier above. This location is, and will likely remain, one of my favorites.
