Verse Getting There About the picture

Verse
Perched above the valley floor,
Watching all and seeing more.
Stately and serene yet never moving,
A towering presence is ever looming.

Standing where the great beast rests,
A wondrous view opens from the west.
Focused and framed by its weathered bones,
A whole new world this one shows.

One made of stone and clay.
One where clouds in blue-sky play.
One where man is kept at bay.
One of changes, yesterday and today.

We come at last to stand upon its wisdom,
beholding all the past has today become.
Within our souls this image now belongs.
We leave and wonder "What lies beyond?"
